In an effort to make up for all the movies we aren't taking of you talking (oh, you sound so cute!), I am going to spend this birthday letter cataloging some of your latest vocabulary forays.
Hey-wow
Sitting in the car seat holding on to the wooden toy phone, talking to Grammy.
Hey-wow.
Can you hear me now?
Jess, Chus, Nus
Usually said while trying to take my clothes off while banging on my chest.
Deck-you
Said with a high, sweet inflection whenever you receive something from another person.
Hig-duhhh
As a distraction technique while driving, Rom would start pointing out any diggers we saw on the side of the road. And now, whenever we pass any construction whatsoever, we hear your cries of “HIG-duhhhh.”
Bee
I was reading a book to Orlando about strawberries with you, and you reached out, pointed and said, "Bee." While you were pointing at a bee! Other things you point out in books and say... kitty and choo-choo.
Cake
This one is pretty right-on. Two weeks ago, after Rom’s birthday, I was sitting at the dinner table eating a piece of cake when you walked in, said, “Cake!” and preceded to do the happy food dance. Which looks just like all your other dances, in which you look like you're walking up invisible stairs shaking your tiny booty.
Neooo, Mine
As in, "Get your hands off my things, big brother!"
+ + +
Oh, to converse! Already you sit up straight, look me in the eyes, and start saying, emphatically: "Uh. Eh. Eh-eh, uh," all while pointing here and there. I say, "Eh-eh. Uh," back. You seem satisfied with that.
But I can't wait for the day we have real conversations and your lopsided opinions, sweet misconceptions, and lovely bon-mots come tumbling into my heart.
Until then, forever yours,
Mama
He's so adorable! I just realized my son's a month older than yours. :D
ReplyDeleteP.S. thanks for visiting my site. Hope to see you soon. :)
